When you create a new vehicle you’ll have to option to add features, images, a description and specify availability. If you specify capacity for vehicles and types then Farebox can help you know if you have enough seats to accommodate all the guests on a given reservation, so please provide accurate numbers for capacity.
Features that set your service apart are important if you have unique vehicles, or maybe even if some of your vehicles have air conditioning and other’s don’t! Add features here just by typing to help your staff choose the right vehicle for the job when creating customer reservations.
When creating vehicles we ask that you specify a type. Type could be something like “Fully Sized Motor Coach” or “Mini Bus”, with a standard capacity size that your new vehicle automatically inherits. If you have many vehicles, or just several of the same type of vehicle this will often just be whatever you call your vehicle classes on your pricing table.
When using asset types it’s possible to record what a customer actually wanted (a school bus, for example), no matter which vehicles actually get assigned to fulfill their order. When you can’t get exactly what they asked for this also helps you make sure you’re giving customers a vehicle that’s at least as nice as they are originally expecting when making substitutions.
You can add new types direction from the “type” selection dropdown, or in the settings panel.
The term “assets” is just a more generic term for vehicle. Depending on how your think about your business you may want to rename this to something like “Busses” or “Equipment” or “Scooters” etc. Whatever you set the asset label to is what will show up in the side navigation, throughout language within the Farebox interface, and in customer facing emails and share links.
